Kids Dance And Music: Jitterbugs

Welcome back from Ordos! Well, maybe all of you didn’t go to Ordos, as I hear that many foreigners in China like going to Thai resorts so that they can imagine that they are VIPs, somehow innately deserving of a superior lifestyle than common muck, before returning to Shanghai where they create the same completely incorrect fantasy for themselves. (Zing!)

Some of us have better things to do than eat, drink and desperately fill the hours in our spare time lest we stare in the mirror for too long and wonder what the hell we are doing with our lives. I’m referring to we superior people – parents.

We do consume ourselves with endless thought about how to improve the life of someone – but rather than ourselves, it’s our child’s wellbeing that we are obsessed with.

Thankfully, Jitterbugs helps matters.

I still don’t know why such a great thing is still that rare: an hour-long (they say 45 minutes, but try explaining to a 3 year old that they must stop dancing) class, spread over three convenient locations, held in the daytime (take note, strange classes for 3 year olds held at 5:30pm on a Sunday evening… yeah that’ll work for our routine), costing 50 RMB for a class and basically a fun-time paradise for a baby or toddler.

We tried and loved Jitterbugs. Their schedule is on their website and there is no reason not to go there with your kid(s) if you are free then.

So anyone with, or looking to start, an expat kiddie class thing in Shanghai – it needs to be held at a reasonable time! So many classes that I think of taking my daughter to, are held at very strange times – and not to mention unbelievably expensive.

Jitterbugs has made a great start and I can see popularity growing – meaning even more fun hours at more times in the day.
