Can't believe I'm turning my calendar to December today. What a year this has been -- my first real calendar year as a parent. One year down, and oh let's say forty more to go! I've learned a lot this year on being a parent and also being Kathy Lawn, the parent. It is true how having a child changes a person and it's like getting to know a whole new you.


A friend was talking today about fortune tellers and knowing your future and they asked me if I'd ever want to know anything about my future. My gut reaction was "Yes! I want to know what my life is going to be like." But then when I thought more about it, I thought, you know if I knew everything that was going to happen to me or to Tanner, then what fun would life be? If life was predictable then it would be more like we're just passing time and waiting for something to happen.


Thinking back on how I was when Tanner was first born, I wanted everything to be predicatble. While it was great knowing when he would eat, sleep, and poo, I have to say it is a bit more exciting now that he's all over the place. It's like he's more real and more a person. I guess that's why the saying is true "Life's a journey, not a destination." While the journey may seem long and arduous and often you want to give up, how you cope and deal with those problems as a family is what ends up fulfilling your life.


Enough reflecting for the day, now to think about gift ideas and what to get everyone on my gift list with this current economy. Will share any good cheap finds with you guys!
