Every two months, City Weekend sends The Soapbox to Shanghai's International Schools to find out what you think
The term “soapbox” or “soapboxing” originates from the use of wooden soapboxes as a platform from which a person would espouse impromptu political or social rhetoric on a topic of importance. From the establishment of London’s Hyde Park Speakers’ Corner back in 1872 to the modern day world of blogs, soapboxing has long been tied to the fight for free speech.
In keeping with this tradition, we've created our own Soapbox and are sending it around town to find out what students, staff and parents have to say about topics of interest to the family community. The best answers submitted to The Soapbox are published in Parents & Kids magazine.
The best part is, we don't pick the topics -- YOU DO!
Have something to say? Say it!
If you want The Soapbox to be sent to your school, leave a comment below telling us what question your school wants the chance to answer, or email your suggestion to trista.baldwin@ringier.cn.
When The Soapbox visits your school, we respect your right to anonymity. Comments may be submitted with or without names. Any comments submitted to The Soapbox may appear in print.
