Another One Bites the Dust

It wasn't that long along that Club Deep, one of Shanghai's few openly gay clubs was shut down after a police drug raid allegedly caught some of Deep's patrons indulging more than Halloween candy. Seems like history repeated itself last week as rumors are spreading that the relatively recently re-opened PinkHome has been closed on the same charges. As our LGBeaT columnist told CW, "The past few days have been really bizarre. I was going to write about about PinkHome [in the next issue], and I was on my way there on Saturday night ... BUT then I got a call from a friend that it was shut down for drugs. And as far as I know, it's closed for the time being."

Details seem to be trickling out at the moment, but looks like Shanghai's LGBeaT scene just took another hit.

So far, details about the incident are based on rumors and conjecture. It's a frustrating situation given the lack of information and the fact that gay people now don't have a prominent gay club. I expect all of the gay bars to be extra crowded this weekend.

From what I've heard, about 10 gay saunas were also closed down recently for mysterious reasons. The incidents could all be related, but I don't think we'll know for sure.

This all makes me wonder, what would happen if Attica and Park 97 were both closed for illegal activity?
