Chicken noodle soup is one of the best comfort foods we can think of--perfect for a chilly winter's day or a stubborn cold. Here are three of our favorites that come chock full of all sorts of delicious ingredients to warm your stomach and make you feel like home:

Sandwiches & Delis | Urban Soup Kitchen
We’re nearing flu season, and most of us are miles away from our mother’s secret weapon to combat runny noses—homemade chicken noodle soup. If you’re pining for some of that soul warming broth, the folks over at Urban Soup Kitchen simmer a near perfect medley of vegetables, chicken and noodles (RMB30 for the small, RMB38 for the large). The best thing about this soup? Free delivery within 2km of their Madang Lu location. The only downside: it’s only available from the 8th to the 22nd of each month.

South American | Brasa Chicken
We love Brasa’s 24-hour marinated and charcoal-roasted rotisserie chickens, so it’s no wonder their noodle soups made with the Peruvian-style fowl are also delicious. Even when paired with plenty of macaroni and hearty chunks of veggies, the soup’s succulent chicken really stands out. It’s a little greasy from the marinated skin, but this soup is one of the most satisfying and wallet-friendly in Shanghai (only RMB18 a bowl).

Greek | Greek Taverna
If you’re looking for a different take on the chicken and noodle classic, Greek Taverna serves up a savory alternative with their bowls of Greek avgolemono (RMB22 for the small, RMB38 for the large). Instead of the expected noodle, Taverna uses rice and boils it with tender shredded chicken and egg. This soup is as tasty as it is comforting. We recommend spritzing the avgolemono with a squirt or two of the accompanying lemon to give it an element of freshness that many others in the city lack.
