We just got a few more details from Sherpa's about their new online ordering system, and from the looks of it, this will be a game-changer. All the new website functions are listed here, but the most useful look to be the PayPal/credit card payment options, dish-specific searches and the restaurant suggester.

  • Fully bilingual interface and messaging system
  • Different states of restaurants (open, cancelled, coming soon, ..)
  • Street and cross street search
  • Garden search
  • Multiple cross street wizard with map integration
  • PayPal payment
  • Credit card payment (needs signed contract with payment company)
  • Checking 3 different payment provider and their technical integration into the site
  • Group ordering
  • Search functions per dishes, per restaurants
  • All mouse-over information
  • Pre-order functionality of the restaurant is closed
  • Cross-browser compatibility for Firefox, Chrome, Safari and IE 7 and IE 8
  • Chat system with multiple operators, feedback functionality, live writing status, dual language support, ratings, message archive, browser based
  • Comments per order
  • Comments per dish
  • Topping system
  • Widget integration allowing placing logos on other website that link directly to the Sherpa's menu page
  • Website builder in English and Chinese that shows real time and automatically updated menus
  • User account system with multiple addresses
  • Separate section for beverages
  • Restaurant suggestion functionality
  • Automatic login for registered users
  • Fixing of some data mistakes in the DMS and streamlining parts of the DMS database
  • Order history for every user to see his past orders
  • Real-time confirmation system so the customers sees that his order has been accepted and will be delivered
  • Notification of the user about the acceptance per mail, sms (with chinese gateway) and on the screen (see point above)
  • Different collapse functionalities to make the menu page easy to read and use
  • Automatically updated Top10 items
  • RSS newsfeed for usage with the Sherpa's blog
  • Twitter account creation and link
  • Server website optimization to speed up page load time

Update: It seems as if the online payment system is going to take a little longer than expected; it won't be up with the rest of the system on Feb. 8. Stay tuned...
