My friend always tells me that he thinks Una's has the best pepperoni pizza in town. According to him, let's call him John Thomas (you know who you are!), it's the pepperoni itself that makes the pizza--salty, flavorful, delicious. While he may be right, pizza is nothing without an oven to cook it in and to that end, Una's seems to be having some difficulties with their landlord and may be forced to close. Not ones to be down and out, they've scouted a new location 100 meters away on Wulumuqi Lu that they're planning to set up shop in later in October anyway. Talk about looking ahead. Rest assured JT, it sounds like your pepperoni bliss will be around for a while yet.

Meanwhile, a venue that's always been fairly popular with the expat crowd, particularly between the hours of midnight and 2am, New York Style Pizza is also expanding, opening up a store on Taikang Lu that'll allow you to grab a quick slice as you leave your drained espresso to the aisles of Bohemia ville and emerge back out into the streets. We're pretty sure that one is going to be somewhat popular.

And entering the scene is Domino's Pizza. They'll be opening up a shop out in Pudong and I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of them popping up around the city shortly thereafter. I don't know if their pepperoni will rival Una's, but this one is set to join the ranks of American pizza franchises like Pizza Hut and Papa John's trying to make a go of it in Shanghai. Maybe we'll even see corn and seafood on the list of toppings as they cater to the local market. Either way, there are plenty of ways to grab a slice around town.
