Another Shanghai standby falls by the wayside

It's official. The Dong Bei Ren on Shaanxi Lu (at Yan'an Lu) is closed. Details are scarce right now, but their closure follows closely on the heels of the the Xinjiang Uighur Restaurant below it.

The other two Dong Bei Rens on Panyu Lu and Suicheng Lu are unaffected.

RIP; this Dong Bei Ren was was one of the best "boozy Chinese dinner" spots in town.

Update: Looks like the Dong Bei Ren hasn't just been closed down, the entire complex has been razed. It's pretty much all gone...

Yes, right on. Dong Bei Ren Shaanxi lu was the business. 5 years ago when here at Fudan as a student, for the last 3 and a half as my local, and during at least two trips made by my visiting mother - they gave her regional gifts and lovely memories. I wish I'd been more often recently. Thanks Dong Bei Ren.
