The Round Up: Shanghai Venues--New, Changing and Expanding

The new Wagas recently opened on Xinzha Lu, good news for those in the area, plus the second Bistrow has just thrown open the doors out in Minhang. Greek Taverna is reportedly looking to expand to another location in Pudong soon before possibly making the hop over to Hongmei Lu sometime down the road as Mexico Lindo moves from Gubei villa to Hongmei Pedestrian Street.

If you're in the Taikang Lu area be sure to check out Togo, a small burrito stand that deals only in take-away. The burritos are fantastic and apparently addictive given the enthusiasm with which the CW managing editor and nightlife columnist scoff them down.

Meatlovers may also be excited by the opening of Arco, a new Latin-inspired steakhouse-style restaurant on Changshu Lu and Julu Lu run by the folks that brought you Latina. Meanwhile, Eduardo Vargas' new venue Bam-Bou above Azul Viva is now also in its soft opening phase and is set to be open for business at the end of April. Their head chef, Mai Nguyen, is flying in from Vietnam and she'll soon be cooking up dishes boasting lemongrass, chili and other flavors fit for spring.

And, speaking of spring, Hamilton House is working on a new menu for the season that will, according to chef Philippe Leban, lighter, toning down the richness and shifting from northern to southern French cuisine.
