Wine doesn’t usually have much to do with Easter, but our wine this issue relates directly to Christ. The Vigne de L’Enfant Jésus (literally meaning “Vineyards of Baby Jesus”) is a red Burgundy red made from grapes from a small four hectare vineyard that’s been in existence for over 400 years. The vineyard is solely owned by Bouchard Père & Fils, one of Burgundy’s biggest wine merchants in the Beaune region. This 100 percent Pinot Noir typically has–both spiritually and in actuality–a heavenly nose, with seductive new wood and red fruit aromas such as strawberry and raspberry. It also has a juicy and concentrated mouthfeel and a long and lingering aftertaste. This wine is usually ready to drink upon release, but it will evolve and improve for the 15 years after its been opened. Various vintages of Vigne De L’Enfant Jésus are available from Pudao (Tel: 6090-7075). And though pairing the wine with a sweet chocolate bunny might sound enticing, try pairing it with more savory veal and duck dishes first.
