Studio FH offers designer replicas for your home and office

I have an obsession: chairs. And I like mismatching and can't stand symmetry, so you won't find me all matchy-matchy with a complete set of identical chairs at the dinner table. Ultimate obsession: designer chairs. Not an obsession? Empty bank account.

Which is why Studio FH is great. Run by two former highschool classmates, Eric and Greg, this store/design studio/showroom is my playground. These guys specialize in making replicas of the chairs of all chairs—from the colorful Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen, to the mod Ball Chair by Eero Aarnio, the cushy Le Corbusier LC2, and even my favorite Wassily, originally designed by Marcel Breuer. City Weekend's contributing photographer Don Yap has the Mies van der Rohe Barcelona and the Saarinen Tulip chair at his family photography studio, and it's made the laofangzi studio that much more stylish.

And don't forget to join their mailing list. They often have sample sales and the prices go way down on classic chairs, and more. A good friend purchased the Eames lounge chair and ottoman for RMB4,000 during a sale, a steal compared to what you'd pay overseas. Drop by their studio to see the designer chairs for yourself, or if you need further inspiration, the showroom also houses a library filled with resources to help you decorate your new office or home. Eric tells me that expat customers often place large orders to ship with them when they move back to their home country. These guys are great fun and will offer you plenty of suggestions for your new décor.
