DJ Shadow in Shanghai . . . but only for the filthy Richy.
So it appears that the rumors concerning a certain Josh Davis, aka DJ Shadow, and an appearance in Shanghai are true. Reportedly, courtesy of ChinaMusic Radar, the Shad will be stopping by Fuxing Park's Richy Shanghai on November 8th. Has anyone else never heard of this club before? Well, I'm sure this show will certainly get their name out there, and unfortunately mandate that you enter the tawdry gates of Fuxing Park.
First though, let's wait and see if he clears customs.

Awesome. I think Richy Shanghai is part of the Babyface brand of megaclubs.

this was the WORST show i've ever been to in shanghai, or anywhere. the venue was awful, totally over capacity and packed so full that no one could move. it took a full half hour to get a drink, everyone was testy and pushy and obnoxious.
i've never understood the bar system in chinese superclubs. you go to the bar, you order your drink from the bartender, he calls over a waiter, who takes your money and spends the next zillion hours getting your change, he comes back with your change, he gives the bartender a slip of paper, bartender eventually gets around to making your drink. WHY?
and WHY, someone explain to me, is it necessary to have an army of ladies with mops and rags cleaning a club while it's open? the place was already jammed to the gills, and there were poor women trying to scrub and mop the floors?

Anyone know if it'll be a live set a la DJ Shadow-Live! - In Tune & on Time (or better yet this clip) or just a regular DJ set?
