Double Vision: One Night, One Venue, Two Shows
It's only Thursday, and Friday night already appears to be in overload mode over at YuYinTang, with a slew of artists and promoters sharing the stage . . . and the door. At nine, German/Chinese indie-pop darlings Monokino take the stage, supporting their soon-to-be-released album on China's Modern Sky Records, and at 11pm, Beijing's 8-bit sage Sulumi will man his Gameboys, inciting seizures and freakouts galore at the second RMB party. Only problem is, each artist (armed with their own promoter) is charging a cover (Monokino = RMB 40, Sulumi/RMB = RMB 30). It's not unheard of to have two shows at the same venue in the same day, but with the start times so close together and the vast confines of the park, I'm just curious how they're gonna pull this all off. Either way, the talent's there, so the people will flock and it'll be a rager for sure . . .
