The penultimate chapter of our Maybe Mars Showcase preview series features Xi’an-turned-Beijing dance-punk trio 24 Hours.
Having already vaulted to the head of Beijing’s class of 2009 with their Martin Atkins-produced debut No Party People, and receiving mention from the The Guardian UK, 24 Hours has been steadily building a loyal Shanghai fan base since they first hit the 4 Live stage in 2007, making regular visits to Shanghai, playing a handful of gigs at Yuyintang, the Dream Factory and atop the Atanu Lighthouse.
Now, drummer Li Guanyu, perhaps the most steady-handed drummer in the Orient, singer/bassist Zhang Chen and guitarist Ren Yilan will play to their largest Shanghai audience to date on Friday, January 22nd at Mao Livehouse.
Also, for your viewing pleasure, here’s 24 Hours debut video for the single “Mr. Stevenson.”
