Chocolate and Baking Schools in Shanghai
After I blogged about a recent chocolate sculpture course taught in Shanghai, several people told me they are interested in learning chocolate-making, which at its highest level is both an exceptionally technical and artistically rich culinary artform.
Here, I’ve compiled a few schools in Shanghai that teach chocolate-making courses. Maybe I’ll take a few classes myself later this year. If you take any classes, I'd love to hear about your experience!

Chocolate making course: Around ¥150.
Meishi Meifu has English-speaking teachers available during the weekend. Book your place in advance to ensure there are vacancies. The course leads students through the entire chocolate making process. The school also offers many cake and pastry-making classes.

This was the most in-depth chocolate class I could find: the teacher is a pastry chef who previously worked for Sens&Bund, and has now opened her own chocolate shop. She speaks English. This course has 4 lessons: One lesson a week, usually offered from 4 pm to 6 pm on Saturdays. The total fee is ¥480 for 4 lessons. At each lesson, students will learn basic knowledge about chocolate, and also have the chance to practice chocolate-making. Each class will be limited to under 10 students.
For Chinese speakers:
心恋坊DIY巧克力店
225 Wuning Lu, Inner Xigong, Yingong Hou Dao, #5
武宁路225号西宫内银宫后道5号
Tel: 29814079
Xinlian gets positive reviews on Dianping. The price is around ¥120 per class but depends on the ingredients used and recipes taught.
