Tiga, world renowned Montreal-born DJ / producer of his own Turbo Records, graced the Bon Bon DJ booth for a three-hour DJ set that really got the Shanghai masses on their feet. With the abundance of alcohol (thank you to Bon Bon's free-flow) and the dancing girls on the loud speakers, the atmosphere for the night was set for an energetic DJ set. CW had the privilege to ask Tiga a few questions before his set started. He was dressed in awesome Nike red sneakers, a Turbo t-shirt and a graphic cap and looked all the part of an electro-clash superstar.

We sat on the comfy Bonbon sofa and had a few minutes to chat about things.

Getting to Know Tiga

CW: So Tiga, is this your first time in China?
Tiga: In Shanghai yes, but I went to Hong Kong with my parents in 1989 which was really cool.

CW:Oh, we were born in 1989.
Tiga: Well we celebrated your birth

CW: [Laughs] So do you have any favorite Chinese food?
Tiga: Well today I had this pork dish that was really tasty. And I love dumplings and this milk tea with rice balls in it ...

On His Work

CW: So you've got this new album coming out in April--Ciao!--how's it going? You must be very excited.
Tiga: Yeah, it's out in April, so far there's been a good response. There are 11 songs on the album, and the last one is a song I really like, "Love Don't Dance Here No More."

CW: Cool, now any inspiration for the song titles?
Tiga: Not really, I guess I just pull out from somewhere in my brain.

CW: Well are there any plans for other Turbo artists to come to China any time soon? Duke Dumont just played in Shanghai last week.
Tiga: Yes probably some time next summer.

CW: So where's the next stop for the Ciao! tour?
Tiga: We're going to Tokyo tomorrow, then Osaka, Jakarta and Singapore. Then we head to South America.

CW: Cool, ever been to Argentina? Great steak there, are you a big carnivore?
Tiga: Yes, a very big carnivore, I'm looking forward to going to Buenos Aires. I like the tango there.

CW: And tell us a bit about the charity work you did for H&M Fashion Against AIDS?
Tiga:Well a lot of artists came together to design some items for H&M. I helped design two sweatshirts with a checker design, and all the money went to charity.

CW: Thanks man, it was a pleasure meeting you.
Tiga: You too, see you later.

Tiga got everyone out of their private rooms and onto the dance floor with hits like "Mind Dimension," "You gonna want me" from Sexor and the last remix of "KIDS" by MGMT, which actually turned the front dance floor into a mini moshpit. The Bon Bon sound system sent the beats pounding into the bodies of the dancers and propelled them forward into a type of exultation. The excited Tiga fans kept dancing and drinking until 4am, and Tiga left the building shortly before then, probably very satisfied with his set--he really delivered.

Tiga's upcoming album "Ciao!Tiga" will be released on April 20.
