Shanghai Weekender: What to do This Weekend
Planners out, pencil's ready--it's time to start getting your weekend in order. For those of you still recovering from Wednesday night, this might sound rough, but we're sure you'll be up to the party task after a few more IVs of java.
It's always a safe bet to start Thursdays off with L Lounge/Laris' Martini night. If you need a break from the norm though, check out Jungle Cat on the prowl at JZ Club and Otto's Amore Terrace Party. The other highly "buzzed" event for Thursday is DJ Jasmine Li at Muse.
Start Friday night with a park screening of "Babel," then move on to Napa Reserve's wine tasting and after make the difficult choice between The Shelter Foundation party, DJ Vicarious Bliss and Krazy Baldhead, the Zao Ci metal band concert and the sure to be (ghetto) glamorous Glenmorangie Party. If you've gotten your invite, then you should also head to Mesa & Manifesto for the kick off to their weekly "I Work Downtown" party. Closed party from 6-9pm but the masses can descend on the terrace after that.
Saturday choice are slim, but thankfully the events are good. First get some culture at the International Student Short Awards: Showing I and, while in Pudong, stop by the Riviera Pool Party. As always, that's if the weather permits. Make sure to end your night at either Windows Underground with S.T.D. feat. SuperVC or The Shelter's Sub-Culture. And even with all the rumors, MAO is still throwing a late-night happy hour.
Recover Sunday with brunch and free-flow Bloody Marys at Hamilton House--or really any fabulous Shanghai brunch--before completing the weekend cultural experience with a chat about the future of Beijing's old neighborhoods at The Glamour Bar.
As check out the new CW live music / Nightlife blogger, Punknotjunk's new posts about SuperVC, Shanren and Al Di.
