Friday

DJ Nu Mark plays the Shelter tonight and he's brought along his set of toys to help him. It's the afterparty for China's DMC Championship, so expect lots of hip-hop trainspotters. Apart from that, there's nothing too crazy happening this weekend. It’s wet. And hot. But D10, the bar shaped like a plane, is finally open, and thowing a two-day party to celebrate. Get down to check out this mad slice of Shanghai nightlife, and some free drinks, if you’re early enough. Meanwhile, Wonky Kong AT LARGE at MAO Livehouse, offers wobbly thrills. There’s also a huge new Chinese club called Circus opening next to that other huge new Chinese Club, Obama. Organizers promise “a sensory orgy of psychedelic nocturnal mayhem.” We could use a bit of that, for sure. But suspicions run deep it will offer nothing beyond tired faces illuminated by flashing lights and the glow of cigarette lighters.

Saturday

At Shelter, the we have Sweatshop goons doing DnB stuff. Resident Jane Siesta is joined by DJ GO. DJ Duo Scott Hess & Perseau are at The Glamour Bar for some laidback, jazz / soul / Afro beats and Skinny Babou is spinning techno at Shiva Lounge.

Sunday

Pray for clear weather, because if so, the Ice Cream Truck rolls up to the Mandarin City Pool for a big, fat pool party. That promises great music and a bunch of crazy kids shaking it in their swimmers. If the weather’s crappy, it’s called off, so check first.
