Tembo Limbo
I've been hearing rumors that Tembo is closing at the end of the month, only to re-open in another venue at a later date. Can anybody add any truth to this? While nobody can deny that Tembo is a great candidate for places to die due to second hand smoke, and that it was in need of some fixing up, why is yet another live bar (if the rumors are true) closing and/or moving? It might be incredibly unrockstar of me to suggest that the rock scene in Shanghai needs more stability, but seriously it does. Brad Ferguson (the guy who reinvigorated Tembo) is being touted as the man to save live music in Shanghai- with yet another upheaval, let's hope he can deliver.

Sorry if my earlier blog offended, I wasn't trying to portray anything in a negative light, was more curious as I have been a fan of what you has been going on at Tembo recently. Glad to here the music will continue..

Tembo will be moving to a new location at the end of May. This isn't a rumor -- I've told the people who need to know and will make a public announcement at the appropriate time. This move is a good thing ... please don't try to spin it as a negative. Your use of words like "closing", "stability", and "upheaval" make it sound like we're struggling to survive. We need a bigger space, a better ventilation system, working A/C, and a new sound system, so we're moving to a better location, that's all.
I know this is a blog, and can't be held to any journalistic standard, but did you consider contacting Tembo management (me) to confirm/clarify your secondhand information?
