The Morlocks, Useless ID and more upcoming gigs
With the Olympics quickly leaving the public conscience (at least ours) we are anticipating a greater amount of live shows. Emma and China West have stepped up and booked big named acts like Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne and Kayne West, which is great if you like sitting in a massive venue on plastic seats watching someone through binoculars. But, we like our live shows to be a little more claustrophobic, sweat drenched and mosh friendly affairs. So here is a short list of foreign bands rumored to be coming to a club near you in the next few months......
Daedelus - really isn't a band, but a DJ who does his mixing live. He makes our list of shows because of his collaborations with Busdriver, a wicked MC who graced Shanghai with his presence last year. Look out for Daedelus at the end of September at Shelter. More dance and less pogo-ing....but nobodies perfect.
Mindy Misty - This concert won't involve much moving on the part of the crowd, but we like this indie band and Live Bar does not get enough credit for being a solid venue that has continuously shown support to the local music scene. September 19th at Live bar.
Useless ID - We aren't into a lot of the ubiquitous pop punk that has spread across the world like a wildfire, but this band is from Israel which is pretty damn cool. The music might be a little lame, but we are positive there will be plenty of moshing going on in the pit and that is enough for us. Useless ID will be at Yuyintang September 29th.
The Morlocks - This one is in November, a ways off, but we do like that garage punk sound, and the Morlocks are legendary for sweat inducing live shows. If you are into raw, infectious tunes and big guitar riffs then this is a must. Early November.
Also for those of you staying around until after New Years we hear that both the Queers and DOA will be heading to Shanghai. If you even remotely like punk then you should know who we are talking about. If not, well then, you got plenty of time to do a refresher course in punk rock history!
