This Week(end) in Shanghai
Get a pen out, you're going to need to write this all down. This weekend you'll want to check out the official grand openings of Bar Hulu (the former Mundo Latino) and Volar's Bloc (they're also throwing invite-only parties Thursday and Friday if you can snag a ticket). MAO is also turning one on Saturday. Go say happy birthday after you change out of the swimsuit you picked out for the Riviera Pool party (weather permitting). If fun in the sun is not your thing, then head on over to the "Shanghai Soundbite 07 / 08" book launch party. For nostalgia's sake, swing by ARK Livehouse to bid farewell to one of Shanghai's longest running live music venues as it closes its doors with, fittingly, a four-band tribute.
Next up, choose between three big names rocking Shanghai's decks--all on Saturday night: Tony Nwachukwu (The Shelter), Freestyle Steve (Muse) and Markus Schulz (M2). If you can still move the next day, check out CINESTESIA, classic silent films from the Spanish Film Archives accompanied by the talent of young musicians at MoCA. Hopefully, you'll recover by Wednesday, just in time to barbecue with the CW editorial team at Kommune's Great Ozzie Barbecue. We'll see you there.
Whew. Big week.
