Why read about live music in Shanghai when you can watch it?
Ok, so maybe that's an ambitious title to this blog topic, but it shows off what we're trying to do here. I'm usually based in Beijing. I"ll be down in Shanghai next week and want to work with our Beat columnist, Aric Queen, on more vidcasting. Bands are sorta like restaurants in that they play more than once and thus, should be reviewed from time to time. Rather than just rely on print, CW is going to go one step further and try and show you the show, the band, the crowd and give an honest lowdown on whether you should see the band's next gig.
Here's what Aric did last Saturday on a shoestring and w/ iMovie. My favorite shot is the one of Logo Bar before the show and the crowds reactions afterwards. What we'll add is more intro and exit material. People should know if Snapline is worth a ticket or not.
I'll take thoughts from the peanut gallery now.

Reggie lives at Lawson's.
Does this help, these vids? What would you like to see more of, less of?
Is this something that could help make the scene here in Shanghai to the standard that its at in Beijing?

The videos help for sure. One thing I'd comment on would be the sound.
I'm guessing most of was recorded via the internal mic?
Other than that, great job. Keep it up!

Steve - thanks for the comments, yeah, this was a pikey first-attempt, but then again, the 'rough' is a nice contrast to the Cedric M vids we get shown from the pool parties. a small mike/lights for outside (Dan's mustache wasn't done justice!), etc.
