to check out new locations to open yet another "art deco Philippe Starck" inspired restaurant cum bar. You will see different costumes that she wore in glass cases, especially the famous swan dress (Ellen wore it, and u can have it tailormade at the Fabric market). The place will have the food with recipes stolen from the now closed Aurora Dining Bar. Maybe then food from this region will establish itself in Shanghai.

Add your two cents and join (in) the discussionAs the son of a Viking family, I am drawn by a primal urge to see this magnificent Icelandic women. Her voice makes me quiver and I begin to loose my ability to discern right from wrong, left from right. Since moving to Shanghai, I've not had this sort of pleasure. I know that maybe I should resist, but can I? Hell no. If I can't get a tkt from you folks... I'm not sure what I'll do, but Vikings have been known to pillage in the past. Are you sure that you want to test me?

And most people in Iceland didn't like what me and my mates were doing. the real reason she is coming to china is...

Yao Ming challenged Bjork to a game of Yi - on - Yi in Xuhui park where he is consistently beaten by gangs of 17yr old AZN homies. Hopefully Yao can score a few points before Bjork get's on stilts and mops the court with the lanky player. Although Bjork is an avid sports fan and takes pleasure in ripping apart media whores, her real passion lies in chicken feet, dried pigs face, cat sticks, rat meat, dog head and various parts of disembodied animals. It's a no brainer that she is here to tear shit up. Tear, shit up and turn this place inside out.

Sure, Bjork's fans are excited to see her upcoming Shanghai concert, but we all know the real reason she's coming to China is to press forward in her bid to be adopted as mascot of the summer games at Reykjavik, 2020. Having caught a strain of of "Olympic Fever" during her time in the world spotlight at Athens, 2004 (as the key performer during the opening ceremonies -- your dad may have told you about it if you missed it yourself), the singer seems intent on pushing her personal boundaries -- as well as, it might be said, those of the Olympic Committee, who have never before adopted a pre-existing celebrity as the mascot for The Games. Her 2005 trip to Italy (then in preparations to host The Winter Olympics a few months later) having failed to light a fire under her campaign, Bjork identified the problem as stemming from her not having told anyone she would be in Italy, nor anything of her motives in going there. This concert (aka Shanghai, 2008) reflects radical new changes in the approach Bjork is taking as she gets serious about making her own personal "Olympic dream" come true. It also heralds the beginning of a campaign that will take her, at regular two-year intervals, to various Olympic-host countries around the world, each to be a site of a concert or other media event "shadowing" the Olympics.

Icelandic tabloids -- which have had a field day riffing on Bjork's conspicuous inability to come to terms with the imminent Armageddon of 2012 -- have been awash with speculation as to the nature of her relationship with current Olympic mascots 晶晶 ("Jingjing") and “欢欢” ("Huanhuan"), members of "福娃", aka "Fuwa", aka "the mascots formerly known as 'The Friendlies.' Significant cash rewards have been offered for anyone able to provide photographic proof of the artist engaged in improper activity with any of the Fuwa, but so far this has resulted only in a wave of patently- photoshopped submissions (and a few fan fiction websites, but that is neither here nor there), with no payouts to date.

It is known that the Fuwa and Bjork do maintain a professional relationship, with Bjork also in China this week to voice what might become a recurring part in the Fuwa cartoon series, as "herself" -- though Bjork has spoken in interviews of her intent to treat the role as a sort of homage to the "self" that Don Knotts created for the Scooby Doo cartoons (which found worldwide syndication as early as 1975). In a quid-pro-quo move generally thought to have paved the way for Bjork's taking part in the Fuwa series, it has been announced that visual artist Matthew Barney -- known better to some as the father of Bjork's child -- will add another installment to his previously-announced-as-concluded film series "The Cremaster Cycle", and that star billing would be given to all of the Fuwa except the notoriously difficult-to-work-with "Beibei" (under the pretext that she'd had a prior commitment).

Still, no matter what the motives involved, the upshot for the aesthetically-refined consumer in China is that there is a heck of a good concert going down this weekend, and here's hoping to see you all there!

because she hopes that in China her heart might find what it's looking for.

Isn't that why we all do what we do?

I think baiba, you deserve the tickets. Batcatcher I think you love (a little too much maybe?) to know what people say about other people (this is for you).

Well, Mark David Elliot, I am amused by your conceit that you even understood what I was on about. As for baiba, yes, as deserving as anyone, but that Bjork has been to China before -- she played The Worker's Stadium in Beijing, at which point she was given a confused reception by locals, who actually thought she was a heavily made-up Chinese gal.

Fun (and true) fact there.

Note: Bjork was not a member of the band "Wham!" who played "Gongti" in 1984.

PS This is a test. Happy 8:08
