Since their first festival in 2005, JZ Club has brought in many well-known international and domestic jazz musicians, including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Laura Fygi and Roy Hargrove. This year, in addition to a lineup of 67 acts that includes up-and-coming young local and international musicians at the Expo Garden Park, JZ is putting on a five-night Master Hall Concert Series featuring five of the world’s top jazz musicians and bands at the Shanghai Centre Theatre. If you have picky ears and are wary of Shanghai’s unpredictable autumn weather, these indoor master concerts, which are equipped with a top quality sound system, will deliver unforgettable nights of quintessential jazz. The series kicks off with Erik Truffaz, a Swiss-born French jazz trumpeter, followed by Grammy award-winning American post-bop jazz saxophonist and flautist Kenny Garrett, celebrated American a cappella gospel music sextet Take 6 and jazz piano luminary McCoy Tyner before closing with a night featuring legendary American jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli.
