There is a saying in China: Come to the front when you are young. This is especially true for stage performers. Elegant violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter is a great example. After making her professional debut at 13 at the Lucerne Festival, she’s turned early success into a world-class reputation.
Over the course of her 30-year career, Mutter has won numerous awards and recognitions, including two Grammys, a Siemens Music Prize and a Leipzig Mendelssohn Prize. She was highly praised by the late conductor Herbert von Karajan and is billed as the leading figure of German-Austrian classical music, a style famed for its traditional and strict manner of playing. Mutter first performed in Shanghai three years ago, and the city has given her extremely warm feedback ever since.
To reciprocate, Mutter will be coming to Shanghai in April for the only China stop on her 2010 Asian Tour. She will wow Shanghai music lovers with her classical and contemporary music repertoire and delight you with a special selection of violin sonatas from Johannes Brahms. RMB200-1,280
