May holiday weekend is finally here. If you are looking to impress a date with something smart, marvelous and sensual during the three day break, head to Shanghai City Theatre and check out Forever Tango. This Argentine dance performance was brought over by Tango master Luis Bravo, and stars 14 of the world’s top tango dancers, one vocalist and an 11 piece on-stage orchestra.

Known as “the forbidden dance”, the Tango was born in the ghettos of Argentina. This sensual, yet elegant dance requires both partners to dance in a close embrace with their eyes closed, following the movement of their hips and legs while tightly pressing their chests against one another.

The show, made famous on Broadway, features seven couples with individual dancing styles and backed by an 11 piece orchestra including two violins, a viola, bass, cello, piano and keyboards performing authentic Argentine music. The New York Times called it “a must-see!” and the Associated Press declared it to be, “the most theatrical show on Broadway!”
