We’ve seen quite a few Chinese movie directors and actors succeeding in Hollywood. Now it’s time for the Shanghai-based arthouse flick, shot by an expat-leading team, to earn its fame and glory across the ocean (well… almost). What’s better? You will have an influential voice in deciding what its future will be like.

Father John, a spy drama is named among five finalists in the Favorite Film Pitch Contest on People’s Choice website. Set in the film-noir atmosphere of nighttime Shanghai, the pitched story follows an intelligent agent John, whose cover is blown in his England and is reassigned to the charming but dangerous city Shanghai. His far-east adventure includes some surprising encounters with Russian mafia and Korean crime lords.

We’re already picturing Pierce Brosnan, Kungfu fighting on the top of Shanghai World Financial Center, Zhapu Lu food street, The Bund and a foxy hot qipao girl as the sidekick. We’ll see. We’ll see.

But if you'd like to see the film get made, go to People’s Choice website and vote for it from Jan. 6 till Jan. 20.
