Hailing from the city that’s given the world some of its top musicians, Viennese baritone Georg Nigl has been an avid singer since childhood. From his appointment as the soloist of the Vienna Boys’ Choir to being honored as an outstanding student of German soprano Hilde Zadek, Nigl continues to be selected for numerous operatic roles in some of the best opera houses worldwide. His smooth voice and fine interpretations of baroque and contemporary repertoires make him one of the most sought-after singers in his field.

For his upcoming concert, Nigl begins with five of Franz Schubert’s poetic works, including Death and the Maiden, Viola and Erlafsee. Nigl completes the evening with a selection of works dedicated to the centennial anniversary of Gustav Mahler’s death, performing the Austrian composer’s Lieder der Eines Fanrenden Gesellen as well as German composer Robert Schumann’s romantic masterpiece Dichterliebe. The concert will be accompanied by talented pianist (a fellow Viennese) Ferhan Önder.
