The Expo will no doubt keep everyone busy once it kicks off in May, and one main part of it is the abundant stage shows around the city. We talked to the three major stages to find out their plans for those six months. Guys, you better start saving money now.

Shanghai Oriental Art Center will host the very first concert in the whole city after Expo is officially launched – Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart will be performing under the conducting of Sir Roger Arthur Carver Norrington at 10am on May. 1.

The well-liked The Philadelphia Orchestra will visit SHOAC one week later with influential Swiss conductor Charles Dutoit.

The major fixture on the international music scene Jiří Bělohlávek is bringing BBC Symphony Orchestra back to the city on May. 18. This concert in Shanghai Oriental Art Center will also be the closing show for this year’s Shanghai Spring International Music Festival.

You will also meet the talked-about young British conductor Daniel Harding, who’s coming with Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra on June. 10.

The King’s Singers and Romero Guitar Quartet are both coming back to Shanghai Concert Hall on June 25 and Oct. 20 respectively.

Shanghai Grand Theatre hasn’t announced its lineup of Expo concerts. But as far as we know, you can count on the venue for some extravagant opera titles from world-leading troupes.

We also tried to get some inside scoops from Expo Performance Center, the supposedly main stage for Shanghai Expo, but failed to get any solid plan for this venue yet (Surprise! Surprise!). I guess, we all just have to wait.

Most of the tickets can be found and booked on Shanghai Cultural Information.
