If you spend hours perusing vintage shops and flea markets, odds are you can’t always find the piece you’ve been looking for. Well-kept vintage bags for example, those with timeless style, tend to be snatched up within seconds. Pangzi—the chubby Shanghainese owner of P1 Coffee, a cozy café and bar opened a few years ago on Xiangyang Lu—has quietly added an eclectic selection of vintage handbags handpicked by his fashion-major sister from numerous vintage stores in the UK and a few others across Europe. There are currently more than 40 vintage leather handbags, clutches, cross-bodies and purses being showcased at the café. For as little as RMB400, you can take home an elegant ’50s clutch bag or a funky cross-body bag in hippie, ’70s style.
