Today’s big picture is the perfect dive by Chen Ruolin which helped her come from behind to win the gold in the 10 meter platform dive. I didn’t see the actual dive, but the picture is certainly eye-catching.

Other headlines today

• A direct train from the Shanghai south railway station to Lu Chao Port in southeast Shanghai will be available on September 1. A door way to inland China via Yangtze river, Lu Chao Port offers another resort area near Shanghai. If you've been before, now going there will be much easier. RMB17 and the train will take you there in 70 minutes.

• Shanghai and Hangzhou are linking their medical coverage system, so patients can be reimbursed directly across provinces. Together with the direct train line, they are two signs of Shanghai’s non-stop expansion.

• A reason why nobody smiled when the stock market went up by 7.63 percent, because everybody knows the rally wouldn’t last. Unfortunately, the market proved them right by dropping 100 points to stay around 2,400.
