Zaobao: The closing of the Beijing Olympics and a bizarre dream

Yesterday marks the official close of the Beijing Olympics 2008. If you are wondering why do good things always have to end, that’s because it is the end that actually makes things so good. With that in mind, people should be happy that the Olympics are actually ending. If this went on indefinitely, I bet it wouldn’t be that special anymore. Ah, human nature, got to love it.

Front Page Story

The only news on the front page today is the details of the closing ceremony. I would really like to tell you about the closing ceremony, but I only watched 30 minutes of it until the shopping mall cut the power to their big screen TV at exactly 9:30 p.m.

Before that, they took the Olympic flag down. Gave it to a few middle-aged men and each of them waved it one by one. Pretty funny.

Then, a red bus came in that symbolizes the transition from Beijing to London for the next Olympics. A lot of performance showing the life in London ending with a bald headed man kicking a soccer ball at the crowd watching. I don’t know if that's typical of British behavior or what.

The last part I saw was people or monkeys (I was blocked by branches of a big tree) climbing up and down on a kind of tower. I thought they were trying to get something from the top, but when I was just about to figure what it was, the power was cut. You can imagine how angry I felt. I wanted to hurt someone, but, luckily, I kept my cool. I kept on thinking about the monkey part and ended up with a really bizarre dream that you don't even want to hear about.

At least, I hope all of you enjoyed the ceremony last night.

Note

A lot of people around me are getting sick. The season is changing, so pay attention to the temperature of your room at night.
