Over 200 multinational corporations have set up headquarters in Shanghai. There are ver one hundred and forty thousand expats with permanent residence permits. I guessed as much. Just go the northern part of Shanghai. Five year ago, you wouldn’t even see a foreign face. Now, they are really fitting in as a part of Shanghai.

• President Hu is in Tajikistan meeting with the presidents of 5 countries in the region to promote close ties and working together to ensure the stability of this critical region to the west of China. Really don’t have much to say on the politics, because it's too complicated for me.

• The morning post went to the Shanghai Global Finance Center and picked up on a few flaws on the tallest building. The view on top of the building is great only if you can see past all the reflections in the glass windows. Also, your mind better be sharp enough to find the correct elevator to get to the top. If you are afraid of heights, you might want to think twice before you go to the restroom in the top floors.

• The torch relay for the Paralympics officially started yesterday. A good thing the disabled have their own event. It adds a little color of the lives of all the participants as well as the audience.
