Zaobao! Zaobao! July 8th, 2008: He's NOT Crazy! Police Attacker Confessions
Top headline today is the arrest and case examination of the police attack that occurred last week. For all of you that are still wondering if the man was crazy, he’s not! Yang Jia, the aggressor, attacked and killed 6 police officers. Why? Because a traffic police stopped him when he was riding a rented bike that had no registration and license plate 7 months ago. Let’s all hope his penalty will be severe enough to serve as a warning. (exclusive coverage on page 2 and 3).
It is exactly one month until the Beijing Olympics. However, the real point the Morning Post was trying to convey by using almost half of the front page: look for our special Olympic reports with a different focus each time we are 10 days closer. So folks keep on reading the Zaobao! Zaobao! headlines. (page 16)

The heat subsided a little. The daily high for the rest of the week will stay at 35 degrees. I also want to remind everyone to eat carefully this summer as well. Shanghai – nice, Chinese food – nice, getting sick on hot pot – not worth it.

Well, I think his original intention was to take revenge on the police officer that stopped and interrogated him 7 months earlier. But things got out of hand in the process. That's just me thinking.
As to why is he able to successfully attack 10 officers, most of the officer was just walking to another office, or getting water. They were certainly unprepared to meet a vicious attacker in the hallway or stairs.

This police station is spread out on different floors of a tall office building. The killings happened on the following levels: 1st, 9th, 10th, 11th, 21th.

Well, the police department to adapt to a changing society, but it feels like officals need something really big and shocking to get them moving.

There are actually four more police officers in critical condition. How does a man walk into a police station and single-handedly mortally wound 10 officers??? And what's more, as you say, it was over an incident that occurred 7 months ago, meaning this was a premeditated killing spree. How exactly did he think that the penalty for riding an unlicensed bike was worse than the one he'll face for killing 6 police officers?
