Terrorist attacks are getting more creative by the day. The first time I heard about two terrorists attacking a border patrol station I thought it was crazy. And then, the terrorist in Islamabad sends a truck fully loaded with explosives for a special dish of barbecued Marriott. Well, one thing is for sure: it is easy for people to get a truck load of explosive in Pakistan. If you get a truck load full of explosives in any country, it is just a matter what you want to blow.

While people talk politics and fighting terrorism in the tribal areas of Pakistan, how about getting rid of all the guns and bombs first. After all, it’s that much slower for you to kill people with a knife.

Front Page Story

The Chinese spacecraft Shenzhou 7 will be ready to launch in the next few days. The astronauts have arrived at the launch site and one of them will attempt a space walk on this mission. As the third nation in the world to successfully launch a spacecraft, China is hurrying on its progress to capture the gold medal in astronomy.

Other headlines today

All the people’s delegates will meet again on September 27th, to discuss the reorganization of municipal government and its sub-branches. This shouldn’t occupy its current space on the front page, but since we are in China and you are reading the Shanghai Morning Post’s headlines, you have to know that this meeting is taking place. How does this concern you or any ordinary Shanghai residents? Don’t know. It should, but I am just not clear how.

Today is the official international no cars day. And ironically there are still cars on the street. I was scratching my head a little, and then I found out there is a designated demonstration zone on north Sichuan road. No cars will be going in and out of this zone from 9am to 3pm today. So I am suppose to take time off work and go get a feel what a street with no cars look like? Not like and I don't know most Shanghainese would also.

The Goden Grand Prix has started. Though not as exciting as the Olympics, it still has a few top athletes competing and it drew a huge crowd. And the audience started their own grand prix of garbage throwing in the stand. The Shanghai morning post reporters wrote a full article covering this private competition. In the end, there were no winners and the big loser is the image of Shanghai.
