Every day Li Yizhong translates and puts into brief perspective the headlines of the Shanghai Morning Post's daily newspaper, Shanghai's largest morning newspaper

Today’s paper devoted a big portion of space to riot in Xinjiang that killed 156 in total. At the aftermath of the incident, the Chinese government is focusing on a few issues.

The first is of course raising the security level of the Wulumuqi city to make sure the situation doesn’t escalate.

Second, Chinese government is pointing all of the attention to terrorists aboard who provoked and remote controlled the mass riot, which is the most important method to ease the tension within the Xinjiang population. The official message promotes unity and harmony among different ethnicity within China. Love your brother and sisters. We are a big family. Don't kill each other.

The third is publishing other related events such as the attack of foreign ambassadors to amplify the serious of the event. And for the first time, the Chinese government is helping reporters gain access to event location, information, and interviewees.

That's the summary of the event up to now. Maybe more tomorrow.

Good news: 31 special task forces from all over China are in Wulumuqi right now. Bad news: They just shot and killed 2 of 3 people while trying to kill a local Uyghur near a hospital. So, how bad you want to go?

Thanks for the link above, dave1111! TrueXinjiang.com - now easily distinguished from fake, misguided and other masterminded Xinjiangs - makes a hilarious read.
