GOURMET WEEK EDITORIAL REVIEW

LOCATED IN Puxi and Pudong and only two years old, this quaint but richly designed Italian Restaurant is definitely one in its own. The restaurant isn't far from my home but I haven't ever quite noticed it. Perhaps I knew it never suited my budget and it has a hidden feel of one those hidden delicious restaurants that only the mafia would eat at, because it's quaint with dim candle light. They have the normal Italian set meal with pastas and risotto, but also offer exquisite gourmet food with veil and lobster all twirled together with delightful seasonings and cream sauces.

Luckily I got to have their set menu that they feature in the up and coming gourmet week. Hmmm… Marinated salmon (slightly cooked) in wine and herbs, served cold as a perfect appetizer with a sweet and salty twinge that was perfect for a slow chew of indulgence. Then a warm Minestra dell'aragosta soup was served as good contrast to the before dish, with shrimp marinating in the soup's creamyness. A nice way to clean the palate before the main dish would arrive. All the while the waiter was serving Cameo's house red from Argentina, while adding their fifth floor view over Xujiahui park, definitely a romantic setting or for a casual business talk. Two main dishes were served before me and my girlfriend which were a goldenly brazed salmon encircled with shellfish and a creamy salty sweet sauce underneath, definitely delightful. My girl wanted the fish and I indulged in a medium cooked roast beef with rosemary and garlic cloves with black peppered mashed potato side dish placed in the middle. It was definitely one of those melt in your mouth moments. After we thought they have done enough they bring out the desert, which is a nice Strawberry Mousse with mixed fruits. I'm usually not one to like fruity deserts, but this was meant for the clouds with its fluffiness and non-overpowering sweetness. Not strong, not weak but with a perfect end to a full course.

After our meal they guided us up top to their rooftop veranda, partly enclosed with water pouring over a glass ceiling and open to the air at the edge of the roof. Over a cup of tea, we relaxed our stomachs before taking the final digestion home with us. Definitely a special place and a meal that I will go back for when I get my next paycheck.

**Great food and service** Went there for my birthday and had an excellent meal of steak, foie gras, smoked salmon, ahi tuna, souffle, tiramisu and champagne. Very attentive service and the view from our table was gorgeous, great place to impress a date.
