GOURMET WEEK EDITORIAL REVIEW
There's a reason why KABB is is a mainstay on the Shanghai dining scene. Located in bustling (and stylish) Xintiandi with an outdoor seating area to boot, not only is the locale a perfect place to linger for a meal--the food is absolutely fantastic, too.
For CW's Gourmet Week, KABB serves up their classic steak dinner for RMB199. Stepping inside the busy eatery (it was a Monday evening, too), our stomachs rumbled at the thought of tucking into KABB's signature steaks. What a way to start off the week! And what a way to start off the meal, with a generous-sized Caesar salad of crisp romaine lettuce tossed with croutons and a house Caesar dressing, and all topped with Parmesan shavings. We wanted to devour it all, yet we knew to pace ourselves for what was coming up.
When the rib-eye arrived, we took a moment to take it all in--the sight, the aroma, and finally, the taste. Grilled exactly to "medium" as requested and covered in delicious black peppercorn sauce, this was what we were waiting for. It was juicy, tender and delicious. The side pairings of roasted potatoes and asparus made it even more enjoyable.
They say that we all have a separate stomach for dessert, and after that sizeable steak, we were ready to believe it. KABB's famous dark chocolate cake, dense and just sweet enough, provoked a silence after the first bite--heavenly.
KABB is a restaurant that's perfect for families and camaraderie. With this great menu, why not round up your closest and "bestest" for a night of great food and fun? We know we will!
