Giggly Panini
Café | Cafe Mojo

Café Mojo sits amidst the delightful little shops of 248 Taikang Lu. Serving a compact menu of light café eats, this sunlit nook offers a quintessentially Shanghai expat experience that takes a certain laidback sense of amusement to appreciate. Giddy waitstaff serve satisfying pies (¥45 for three petite ones: chicken curry, steak and mushroom and the particularly tasty spinach and feta) and build great paninis with tasty deli meats, crisp vegetables and generous portions of cheese on perfectly-grilled ciabatta (¥45). Instead of being set on tables, standard smoothies and sweet Vietnamese coffees (¥30 each) are awkwardly handed to guests by giggly servers. The moody electrical circuitry added a rustic foil to an otherwise pleasant visit. Come with a sense of humor–Café Mojo may be rough around the edges but it is charming.
