Italy in Pudong
Italian | Bergamo

Unless you live in Pudong, Bergamo isn't likely to be your most convenient choice, though all the elements of a first-class Italian meal are there–excellent food, an extensive wine list and a gently lit ambiance. The roast duck with fresh orange, cloves, cinnamon and an exotic Grand Marnier sauce (¥125) was the most intriguing of the dishes we savored, but none of the others disappointed. A rich minestrone soup (¥40) and rolled pasta with spinach and ricotta cheese (¥65) were among the best we've had. Additionally, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the paper-thin beef carpaccio (¥70), was as flavorful as the waiter claimed it to be. While a shared tiramisu (¥40) was the perfect way to end our meal, we were glad to have come before the excessively loud live entertainment began.
