House of Blues and Jazz Moves | Casa Pete | Guanxi Number Change

New Address for House of Blues and Jazz: Moving to the Bund ... almost
Although Shanghai's tune seems to be set to the beat of cranes and jack hammers, there is still an oasis or two of musical harmony around the city. One such locale is the well-known House of Blues and Jazz. We've heard that this jazz institution is changing locations, moving to Fuzhou Lu near the Bund. The new space should have a better sound system (something most venues in this city are in desperate need of), and the space will be bigger so that they'll be able to offer restaurant service during the day, instead of just being a great nightclub.

Getting a New CW Guanxi: Online directory changes number
We've all come to rely on CW Guanxi to tell us the address of the club that our friend blurted, okay, slurred, out as they disappeared in the nearest cab–"No problem, we'll meet you there!" But you won't be able to unless you know this: Guanxi's number has changed. To get an address / phone number you now have to dial 1066-9588-2929.

MiCasa New Casa: Tapas bar reopens
You may recall that a short time ago MiCasa Bar and Tapas closed. Well, not for long. As of Dec. 7 it has reopened as Casa Pete. Major differences? Not many. New chef, expanded bar, some menu change-ups, but still a tapas / bar approach. We'll see if this "new" venue will be able to pick up the pace on the Hongmei Lu strip.

Third Call for all Brits: Sure, miss your flight
Those looking to finally get in that trip to the UK or wanting to head home for Christmas now have more flights to catch after missing the first due to poor cocktail management. British Airways will soon offer daily flights between London and Shanghai. Great news for all of us who miss paying five pounds for a sandwich.

Second Shot at '08 Olympic Tickets: Procrastinators rejoice
After all the hype surrounding the initial second round of Olympic ticket sales / lottery we were surprised–well, not really–to hear that the system overloaded. Everyone’s all going to be given another shot at the tickets as Phase Two begins (again) on Monday, Dec. 10 and runs through Dec. 30. Same rules apply. You can only submit one application form, and are limited to two events. Unfortunately, we don't think any beach volleyball tickets have opened up.

Toy Story: In your face, Mattel
For those who've been pacing the streets searching for foreign-made toys, a spokesman for Toy Industries Europe has officially claimed Chinese brands are safe. His comments follow large-scale recalls of Chinese toys due to high levels of toxic materials such as lead plaint. So, technically, no need to be afraid of teddy anymore, but that’s your call.
