Top 5 Pizza
by cityweekend | Posted on Dec 07 2006 | Top 5 0 Comments | 0 Bookmarked

When the weather is bad and you're in a rotten mood, nothing's better than a scalding mouthful of pizza.

Here are some of our favorites:

1 Jimix Seve: for artful bites

This artfully executed housewares store-cum-pizza parlor is a delicious combination of delectable thin crust pizza and high design kitchen items. That's one big Italian wedding we're liking. We recently tried the Pugliese, a savory mozzarella, onions and black olives affair, while the Ungherese showed off pepperoni, tomatoes and peppers that tasted fresh off the vine (both ¥68).

2 Una's: for thin-crust pizza aficionados###

Una's may be a little hard to find but the trek will be well worth every slice of perfectly crisp pepperoni. This chain has the thin crust mastered, with the piping-hot toppings extending to the very end of the slice -- perfect for those who hate leftover crusts. Pumpkin pizzas are a favorite. A 9" pizza goes for around ¥50. Delivery service available.

3 Pasti: for those in love with creative possibility

These thin crusted, rich flavored homemade slices are open to a wide range of sauce and topping possibilities -- make it traditional or gourmet style. Get creative with your own pizza invention or get treated with Pasti's Favorite, distinguished by fresh slices of parma ham and an edge of pesto. All ranging from ¥50 to ¥70.

4 New York Style Pizza: for the American slice of home

Although we're not sure each slice really measures up to 16" as boasted, nothing is as curative as a hot ¥10 slice of this goodness. Imported ingredients are liberally sprinkled on each greasy piece. We recommend grabbing a 17" Hell's Kitchen for ¥80 and digging in with friends.

5 Pizza Marzano and California Pizza Kitchen: for basil fans and clean air aficionados

Okay, we know that Top 5 isn't Top 6, but how can we not mention both these places? We love Pizza Marzano's basil-blessed bites, especially the Bufalita, and we're fond of California Pizza Kitchen's crisp crust and non-smoking policy.
