For example, to get to my place, you walk straight down Hai'an Lu past the crowded street food market on Changhua Lu, then past a sewage plant on your left. If you don't see it, you'll smell it, I promise. If for some reason you can't, smell for the seafood market on your right. Got it? Great, now keep walking down Hai'an until you see a bottle factory on your left. Take a left under the bridge by the public restrooms and voila! You've found my complex. I can walk to work from here and getting around Shanghai is easy–it's just 15 minutes to Hanzhong Lu on Metro Line 1. I can also hop over to ArtSpace or the Jade Buddha Temple just around the corner.
