Ying Tang: Photographer
Being a photographer and coming from a film background, I've always loved foreign films. Film is a different way of telling a story, which also helps me get inspiration for my current personal projects. That's why I can't wait to check out the film festival, to get exposed to different ideas from different cultures. It's like a short cut to getting insights into the life and cultures in other places without paying for a flight to the country itself. Shanghai is a multicultural city, like San Francisco where I was working as a videographer and editor for five years. Each culture has its own unique way of expressing emotion. I can't wait to go and see these expressions on film.
