One elevated stage, four fog machines, and millions of renminbi later, Club JJ has been reborn as–wait for it–Cargo JJ. With a new lease on life, the club takes no prisoners. A chest-rattling sound system and laser lighting astound even the most jaded clubbers. Hoping to differentiate itself with a focus on quality music, the owners have hired two-time DMC China champion, Chen Chen, as the music director. Despite all that, we’re wondering if it has enough ambiance to build a loyal following.
