A Favorite Gets a Face-Lift
For all the Bund party goers looking for a new hot spot to dance away the summer nights, you'll feel right at home at Mundo Latino's reincarnation, Bar Hulu. The black-and-white mirror laden interior boasts a sleek contemporary design. Candles abound throughout the establishment, creating a mellow atmosphere but the rotating strobe lights away from the dance floor seem a bit out of place. You can find a nice respite from the Latin beats of the indoor bar by stepping onto the outside terrace, filled with a well-dressed crowd sipping cocktails in open air cabanas. The drink list has an extensive array of choices. The Black Godfather (￥78) was an innovative concoction that hit the mark but the Blue Hawaii (￥68) fell short of expectations. Bar Hulu's panoramic view of the Bund from the relaxing outside terrace makes it well worth crossing to the river side of the Bund, but be prepared to shell out a little more for the privilege.
