NEW EATS: Good Times (Cafés)

Good Times, Better Food
Good Times is the third and latest installment from the folks behind Masala Art. Unlike Masala, which offers northern Indian fare, Good Times focuses mainly on southern Indian cuisine. For those well-acquainted with Indian cooking, you'll find all the standards on the menu, but what sets the place apart is its selection of fast-food style, individually portioned dishes. The Dosa (¥38 or ¥48), flakey crepes stuffed with your choice of meat or vegetable combinations, and the Murg Kathi Roll (¥48), chopped chicken and vegetables in an eggy paratha husk, are can't miss selections. The menu also contains a number of Anglo-Indian dishes, but with a wealth of solid chutnies and curries, there's no need to order a Curry Burger (¥38). The only real knock on the place is the ambiance. The faux-café décor might work if not for an outrageously loud color scheme and the bad music, made even worse by the thumping bass from a neighboring disco. The menu, designed to look like a newspaper, is unnecessarily confusing but saved by a friendly waitstaff, more than happy to assist you in your selection. It may not be the next great date restaurant, but when it comes to expanding your culinary horizons without shrinking your wallet, few places in town can compare.
