NEW EATS: Japanese | Akurah ★★★✩✩
Oodles of Noodles
Though a bit hard to find within the maze of Taikang Lu alleyways, this itty-bitty nook of a place above Miss Ginger offers generous servings of hot or cold udon noodle dishes at attractively low prices. Great for a Shanghai hot summer day, we selected a cold udon salad (¥38) with nicely presented salad greens, al dente udon noodles and a side of creamy miso dressing for a do-it-yourself mix of tasty and refreshing Japanese textures and flavors. Complimenting our salad, the tempura prawns, an excellent value at ¥48, were light, crispy and served with hot dipping sauce and a few battered vegetables. Though noodles are the featured stars here, Japanese rice and vegetable dishes, seafood and steak (the latter bearing a hefty ¥180 price tag) also grace the menu. Drinks range from fresh juice smoothies to Japanese beers. We suggest you swing by and give it a try. Slurp the udon and enjoy.
