All-You-Can-Eat, Again
The newest addition to the burgeoning Dagu Lu strip offers two large teppanyaki tables alongside a smaller dining area with more intimate tables dotted here and there. Service is attentive though at times overbearing. It is what you'd expect, a rather run-of-the-mill, eat-till-you-drop Japanese restaurant. For ¥168 you can choose from various meats, seafood, rice and vegetables, prepared right in front of your eyes. We opted for the Top American Beef (¥88) and Top Beef (¥88) dishes to begin. The cuts were neither fresh nor old–standard teppanyaki fare prepared with copious amounts of oil, butter and salt. Next we tried Shrimp with Lemon Sauce (¥88); the addition of fresh lemon juice was a pleasing contrast to the liberal use of oil. Fried asparagus (¥55) was crisp and light. Finally, the Taiwan Fried Rice (¥28), which included egg, carrot, onion and garlic, was adequately executed. Nothing sets this place apart from its competitors though it will surely please those who are primarily concerned with consuming as much food as possible at the lowest price. For the rest of us, there are better options for Japanese fare.
