Philosophy of Freshness
Nestled in a pocket on Taikang Lu is Origin, a new café offering seasonal French cuisine, fresh squeezed juices (¥24-29), a range of cocktails (¥40) and a tranquil atmosphere. We enjoyed the spinach salad (¥38) a well-balanced mixture of walnuts, strawberries, radishes, arugula and baby spinach topped with a delicate vinaigrette. The menu caters both to the lone, stroll-by eater and the slow, course by course diners, and offers a variety of vegan, vegetarian and health-conscious choices. Our roast pork sandwich with caramelized onions, Swiss cheese and a balsamic sauce (¥38) was complemented nicely by a tall, cool glass of fresh squeezed pear juice (¥29) and refreshing minted water. Our hearty white bean and vegetable soup (¥28) and the sinful Nutella banana crepe (¥22) were delectable. All in all we found this a welcome (fresh) addition to the Taikang Lu café beat.

Casual and full of delicacy. Especially their salads are fresh & cute. In the daytime we can enjoy a relaxing & healty time with fresh juice and in diner time with wine. I like almost all of thier dishes but I hope thier gnocchi with cheese sauce will be lighter & more fluffy...

Origin - really great for a casual lunch or breakfast on a weekend. Great organic produce, good coffee and great service ... Also for dinner - great value for steak and their pasta is also very very good... Nice for a romantic but casual date as well
